Education Alliance for Life Chances

Our Work

Turning Strategy Into Action for Bradford’s Children

Our work is built around three strategic priorities, confirmed in our 2026–2029 Strategic Plan. We work with schools across Bradford to tackle inequalities and improve children’s life chances. We build the systems that connect health and education. And we invest in the places and communities where children’s lives are shaped every day.

How We Work

At the heart of our approach is the belief that schools are powerful anchor institutions in our communities – but they can’t do it alone. Our work connects schools with public health, social care, voluntary sector partners, researchers, and community voices to address the challenges that affect children beyond the school gates.

We work in three interconnected areas:

Schools

Inclusion, SEND & Evidence-Led Practice

We aim to support schools across Bradford to identify children’s needs earlier and respond more effectively. Our lead initiative is rolling out the Electronic Development Support Passport (EDSP) to every primary school — a teacher-led tool developed with Born in Bradford’s CAER to help spot developmental needs quickly and consistently.

Systems

Health & Education Collaboration

We aim to strengthen the connection between health and education so children can access the right support earlier and more easily. Over the next three years, we will expand School Health Hubs to 3–5 locations, bringing NHS professionals, schools and community partners together as one coordinated team.

Place

Act Locally

We aim to grow our community-rooted partnerships across Bradford’s most disadvantaged neighbourhoods. Working in up to five areas, we bring schools, health services, and voluntary organisations together around hyper-local priorities — with community voice at the centre of every decision.
