Our Journey So Far
Since 2018, the Education Alliance for Life Chances has grown from a time-limited programme into a lasting, cross-sector partnership committed to system-wide change. What began with the Bradford Opportunity Area has evolved into a bold, place-based strategy to improve outcomes for all children and young people.
The timeline below captures key milestones in our development — from early foundations to the strategic decisions that shaped EALC’s vision, governance, and long-term mission.
Delivered our £15m DfE-funded Bradford Opportunity Area programme to improve social mobility
Published a 12-point plan to improve social mobility and reviewed lessons learned.
Secured commitment from the Bradford Opportunity Area Partnership Board to carry out legacy work.
Launch of the Education Alliance for Life Chances as a legacy vehicle.
Set strategic mission, expanded the board, and secured funding and governance.
Developed full strategy and income generation plan.
Secured Bradford Birth to 19 as EALC's host organisation.
Act Locally delivery continues in Keighley, Manningham & Girlington and Holme Wood.
Partnership Board expansion.
EALC gains charitable status.
NHS Charities Together Innovation funding secured to develop x2 School Health Hubs at Oastlers School and Dixons Allerton Academy
EALC moves to new HQ in Frizinghall
All 3 Act Locally areas run ‘Pitch and Pick’ events where £75K of grants were distributed to schools and VCSE orgs supporting Act Locally priorities
Act Locally Manager starts in post
EALC 3 Year (2026 – 2029) Strategic Plan confirmed by Trustees and Partnership Board
